As announced in the Open Enrollment information, Airborne has introduced a preferred provider network for the vision benefit. This program will be managed by Cole Managed Vision and is effective Jan. 1, 2001. These discounted network providers include Sears Optical, JCPenney Optical, Target Optical, and most Pearle Vision Centers.

By using discounted network providers, employees receive discounts off the full retail price of eye ware. This provides greater purchasing power for the $100 eye wear allowance. There are several network providers located in nearby metropolitan areas including Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus. Employees may find a trip to a network provider worthwhile.

Unfortunately, there are no discounted network providers located directly in Wilmington, Hillsboro, or Washington Court House. Employees may still use non-network providers in Wilmington or elsewhere if that is more convenient. The benefit is the SAME benefit: up to $50 for an eye exam and up to $100 towards the purchase of eye wear. There is NO reduction in the benefits level for using a non-network provider.
